Delightful flair for comedy [and] singing.

Impressive… Jeffrey Ballard displayed a rich tenor with a delightful flair for comedy as well as for singing.

Focuses on what each student CAN do.

Too many voice teachers focus on what a singer cannot do. Jeff Ballard focuses on what each student can do. He begins where they are and builds on that, challenge by challenge, until his students find themselves singing at levels they never thought possible. A member of a local high school show choir was told, at age 16, that she needed surgery on her vocal cords. I suggested to her mother that before taking that drastic and irreversible step that they get a second opinion from Jeff Ballard, who was helping me with vocal rehabilitation. Dr. Ballard [Jeff] was able to help the young singer improve her vocal technique so that she was able to sing comfortably, and the surgery was no longer deemed necessary.

Jeff’s students rave about his work, and so do I!

Jeffrey has been our reliable “go-to” guy when members of the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir have requested information on area voice teachers. His ability to impart a broad understanding of vocal pedagogy has been a tremendous boon to us. His students rave about his work, and so do I!

From the very first lesson, I knew Jeff was the right teacher for me.

I was told I was a terrible singer. With retirement, I searched for a voice teacher. I checked credentials and experience in teaching bel canto singing, and if the teacher knew about Alexander technique for structural alignment.

From the very first lesson, I knew Jeff was the right teacher for me. He positively bounced with encouragement and enthusiasm. My problems were inaccurate pitch, and basic ignorance of how to sing. Jeff has steadily remediated both over the past year.

I find Jeff unique in his unflagging encouragement for his singers, his commitment to ensuring a solid foundation for vocal training, and his insistence on developing the most beautiful voice of which a student is capable, while making his private lessons great fun.

Jeff offers his students opportunities to perform songs of their choice with an experienced accompanist in studio recitals twice a year. We students are all ages, cover a broad range of competency and experience, and share a passion for singing.

I recommend the Ballard Music Studio to anyone who wants to learn to sing, or to improve their singing, but especially to those who have been criticized or lost confidence in their ability to sing confidently and with joy.

I sought him out upon discharge from the U.S. Navy.

I was a student of his at his first collegiate appointment and was so musically fulfilled with my vocal progress, I sought him out upon discharge from the United States Navy… I would not be where I am in my vocal career if it weren’t for Dr. Ballard’s guidance.
